Finally! At it again

Hi, well it’s been a long time since I posted anything.  Almost 2 months.  I was just really busy with work thanks to the Mississippi River and then just needed to catch up around the house.  We also laid some sod down so we now have a backyard! Woot, woot! So come on over for a visit!

Anyways, I saw a Tag you’re it and the CAS(e) this Sketch challenge this week and thought I’d give it a go.

make a wish 2 Aug 2014

I have these white tag cards I got years ago from i craft. Copyright date is 2010 and there’s 8 to a pack and I still have 7 unused, so I guess this is the first card I’ve made with them. The butterfly die is the new one from papertrey ink Life is Beautiful. I used the Make a Wish stamp from Studio Calico’s Hello stamp set in the latest monthly card kit on Simon Says Stamp Greetings with Sketchy die.

The inks were all distress inks. I used Tim Holtz spritzer on the stencil using the Peeled Paint, Broken China and Wild Honey Distress Markers. I then used the Wild Honey on the Sketchy Die with the spritzer.  I used the Distress stains of Peeled paint and Broken China on the butterfly and then edged the butterfly with a wink of Stella and also put it in the holes on the background butterfly. I inked the edges of the card with Mustard Seed and Scattered Straw. Lastly I put some dots out of my stash and tied a scrap ribbon in the hole.

This sentiment I found on the Inisde & Out Birthday II stamp set from Papertrey Ink which I thought matched nicely with the sentiment on the outside.

This is the sketch I was supposed to follow. Thanks for looking! It won’t be so long next time.

Here’s another couple of cards I’ve made over the past couple weeks.  I was trying out the stencil and had to use what I made so this card arose. Supplies used: the Simon Says Stamp Stars and Dots stencil as well as their All Boy stamp “Dude”.The “you” die cut and coordinated stamp is also from Simon Says Stamp.  Tag die is from Sizzix.

Dude you will be missed

This next card was inspired by Mama Mo, ok more like copied. Hey, when you find something you like, copy!

congrats you are awesome May 14

Supplies used were Winnie & Walter Big Bold You, Studio Calico’s Sketchbook, Anna Marie Sugardot Stickers, Mark Richards Nailheads and a silver star from my stash as well as washi tape.

I think I like it so much I may make one for someone who just graduated.

Here’s the original card:

Well Here’s a birthday card I made.  I’m trying to focus on more masculine birthday cards since I work with 6 guys and I know there’s some birthdays coming up. So I broke out the sewing machine anyways.  I hadn’t used it in a while and I thought this was the perfect way to adhere the two pieces of paper together.

male birthday

This is using the Fancy Pants paper out of the May 2014 Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp.  I also used a coordinating chipboard button by Fancy Pants.  The happy stamp is by a new company Winnie & Walter. I used versamark ink with a buff colored embossing powder but felt it was to washed out so I added some G07 Copic Marker to the embossing to help make it pop a little more. The Birthday die cut is from Papertrey Ink using October Afternoon paper.

Today I have a card using October Afternoon Midway papers.  I want to enter it into the Simon Says Anything Goes With Pearls Challenge.

Arrow birthday

The lighting is a little yellow but I think the card still shows well. Since it opens in the middle, I thought I’d show the inside.

Paper: October Afternoon Midway
Stamps: Simon Says Stamp – Thinking of you; Stampendous – Birthday Assortment
Dies: Papertrey Ink

Well, I’ve been working on a canvas. And I think I have it “finished”. I was playing over at someone’s place last weekend and someone said I should try mixed media on a canvas.  I had this canvas that I had decoupaged paper to and never really loved it.  So I took it and did this:

butterfly on canvas

How cool is that?  I pulled out my stencils, gesso, clear tar gel, heavy gel and some paints and this is what I found. As luck would have it, the challenge this week at the Monday Challenge with Simon Says Stamp was on using pastes and stencils.  Texture is the challenge at Crafts for Eternity  so I want to enter it in that one as well.  What luck!

Stencils: Memory Box, Simon Says Stamp, Tim Holtz, Crafters Workshop
Stamps: Tim Holtz
Paints: Tim Holtz, Palmer Prism
Embelishments: flower stash, butterfly stash, wood die cut from Michael’s
Mediums: Liquitex (gesso), Golden (gels)
